Work

Rob graduated from Exeter University with a degree in Economics and started his career in investment banking, working as an Equity Trader with for a Japanese bank Nomura from 1997.

He then moved to the retail side of finance, cutting his teeth in mortgage broking at a large Knightsbridge based firm from 2006, before co-founding a firm in the City in 2009. He then co-founded Altura in 2019.

Rob has worked with a variety of clients, from first-time buyers to home movers, through to international and self-employed borrowers.

Home

Rob lives in North London with his Belgian wife, two children and their dog. When not occupied with family life, Rob enjoys eating out, seeing friends and family and taking advantage of the amazing London theatre scene (combining all three is Rob’s perfect night out.) And while enjoyment is often hit and miss, Rob gets to Arsenal home matches as often as he can.

He also enjoys travel and has visited countries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and North and South America in the last decade or so. He also lived in Australia after university for 18 months and visited New Zealand on his way back to the UK.

To keep fit, Rob does a mixture of spinning, circuit training and running. He’s a big fan of his Peloton, a lockdown purchase that still gets a lot of use!

Where can we find you on an ideal weekend?

At home with family, taking in a match at Arsenal (which we win) and catching up with friends over dinner or a pub lunch.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Anywhere I haven’t been before! I love exploring new places, Slovenia was a recent revelation.

What’s your favourite song to play in the car?

Tend to just put the radio on and let the DJ decide!

What was the first album you bought?

Can’t remember, but my first single was ‘Our House’ by Madness.

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you win a medal in?

Spotting people on TV and working out what other film or programme they’ve been in. A genuine talent of mine!

When the dessert menu arrives, what are you looking for?

A Speyside single malt whisky.

What three qualities draw you to new people?

Honesty, an easy-going nature and a good sense of humour.

What’s your pet peeve?

People taking themselves too seriously.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

Current favourite is a pizza oven, a great way to spend an evening making and eating a family dinner.

Who would be at your dream dinner party?

Barack Obama, Thierry Henry, Princess Diana,
