For 15 years, The British Mortgage Awards have celebrated excellence in the intermediary mortgage sector. Each year, nominees and winners have demonstrated outstanding levels of expertise and service, and this year we’re delighted that we have been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Altura nominated at The British Mortgage Awards 2020
This year has been a particularly challenging one for the mortgage sector. The coronavirus pandemic has hit the profession hard, with surveyors unable to conduct valuations and government guidance telling buyers and sellers to postpone transactions.
So, it’s those businesses who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the best customer outcomes in such difficult circumstances who are set to be rewarded at this year’s British Mortgage Awards.
These awards recognise the outstanding work of individuals in the mortgage field, and Altura has been shortlisted for the Best Complex Credit Mortgage Broker for our reputation and success in arranging mortgage finance for expats and overseas residents.
We work with a network of advisers and specialist lenders to source lending solutions for overseas clients seeking finance on UK property. Challenges we face in this sector include:
- Sourcing lenders active in lending to overseas borrowers
- Regulation and ‘Know Your Client’ legislation
- Collecting and certifying documents from abroad
- Tax considerations
- Foreign currency risk
- Language and cultural differences.
The international background, experience and contacts of our team give us an unparalleled network among mortgage and related professionals, allowing us to source mortgage finance for borrowers in a range of overseas jurisdictions. We have particularly good contacts in China, Hong Kong, South Africa and The Netherlands.
It’s this skill and expertise which has led us to be shortlisted for this prestigious award.
On a shortlist of just three professionals, this nomination acknowledges our skill in understanding complex income streams, client requirements, backgrounds and cultures, and our ability to build truly deep, effective relationships with lenders and building arguments for each case.
We also believe that the future for mortgage brokers depends on two key factors: technology and identifying areas which will always need a human broker. This approach – where technology can be leveraged while the input of an experienced broker remains crucial – has also played a part in our nomination.
Of course, thanks to social distancing guidelines, the awards ceremony due to take place on Thursday 9th July will no longer be happening. Instead, the event will now take place on Tuesday 15th December at the Park Plaza, Westminster, London.
Deciding to proceed with the event, the organisers said: “The Mortgage Solutions team believes it is always vitally important to recognise such excellence, no matter the market.
“Not only does attaining recognition at these awards reward and motivate the best people, the event itself offers peerless networking and a moment to reflect on the industry’s collective and individual resilience.
“Taking the time to recognise excellence is positive not just for the individuals concerned, but for the market in general, a view shared by key industry leaders.”
Wish us luck, and we’ll let you know how we get on later in the year.
