Work
Pete’s career began with 17 years working on regulatory and data-centric projects for investment banks. Starting out as an Analyst, he worked his way up to becoming Programme Manager in the City of London with a short stint in Amsterdam. He also worked as an independent consultant for Goldman Sachs, Barclays Capital, HSBC and Nomura, to name a few.
With the desire to be part of something more personal and build something tangible, Pete took the leap into studying to become a Mortgage Broker. Having cut his teeth and gained experience at a firm in Surrey, Pete joined Altura in 2019 as a Senior Adviser.
Pete’s role involves walking our clients through their options and determining which mortgage product would be the best option for them based on their circumstances; he also provides ongoing advice and support to our existing clients. Building relationships with our clients is what Pete enjoys best, and one of the key reasons why he moved away from banking and jumped into the mortgage business.
Home
Pete was born in Zimbabwe to a Scottish mum and an English dad, then raised in South Africa. He now lives in Surrey, is married, and has two children who take up most of his time and most of his bed!
Pete enjoys windsurfing, rugby, cricket and golf. He plays the latter two in the summer months, whenever he can get a spare few hours. He lives a stone’s throw away from his local golf course, so loves squeezing in a 5:30am 18 holes. It’s a great way to meet potential clients too (“my tag line to my wife!”).
Living in the Surrey hills, Pete has also taken up mountain and road cycling and tries to get in at least 120km per week during the summer (“If you can’t beat them, join them, so now I also hog the middle of the road”).
